Universal Pictures,  where do I start ?
Well for me, it started with the classic
Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein...At
least thats the first classic monster
movie that I remember watching. It was
so great, all the monsters in one place.
During the 60's & early 70's there was
a revival of the classic monsters. Although
home video had not quite made it into our
life at that time, shows such as Creature
Features & Chiller Theatre were very popular.
Theatres around the country were showing the
classic monsters at midnight spook shows and
monster products such as toys, magazines and
models were all the rage and lets not forget
about the Munsters.....This was the era that
I grew up in and I learned to have great passion
for the classic black & white Universal Monsters..
That passion is still very much alive in me
today.. As I move into my late 40's, I realize that
I'm just part of a very large group of middle aged
folks who are looking back in great fondness of
the era that they grew up in. It was the last era of
it's kind and we are the last generation to experience all those wonderful things that those years introduced. It's our duty to keep those things alive as long as possible and pass them on to anyone and everyone who'll take the time to care....
Am I making any sense here at all ?? My wife and I talk about this frequently. All the cool things that came about in the 50's, 60's and 70's....The toys, models, movies, so many cool things that were replaced by video games and rapp music..Nothing will ever be able to replace that magical moment of popping a couple batteries into your Major Matt Mason Moon Crawler for the first time, or opening your new Aurora Frankenstein kit. It was truly a magical time to be a kid. An era that will never be seen again, except in those who remember it and are working hard to keep it alive.
So keep up the great work and happy modeling..
And remember, you can never have too many "Monsters On The Shelf".......
